This article gives us a step by step guide on how you can print your artwork to liven up your house or for business purpose. I’ll advise you to do printing by yourself to save on cost and to give you full control of your artwork.

Working on your own printing sharpens you to become a good photographer. You’ll be able to see your work in different dimensions and how colors and tones affect images.

Below is a simple guide on how you can print your own artwork;

#1. Use A Good Display

After you’ve converted your artwork into a digital format, ensure to use a display with higher resolution to produce quality images. You shouldn’t use a laptop because it wouldn’t give you enough space to work on editing and evaluation before printing is done.

If you wish to print your own images, the first step is selecting a powerful desktop display. The most recommended display that is cheap but gives quality output is from EIZO and NEC.

#2. Mark And Profile Your Display

The monitor you’ve chosen to work on should be set in the right manner such that system display wouldn’t bring any challenge. Ensure color formatting and brightness is set to its optimum level.

Commonly, it’s been noted that the most issue photographers encounter when doing their printing is where all outputs becoming a blur and very dark. The reason behind this is because settings of the display are left too bright. Setting the brightness of your display to about 100 cd/m2 (Candela per Square Meter) is recommended.

In order to use a correct brightness, you’ll require to set your display and customize a profile by using the best hardware package. X-Rite is a good profiling system you could use.

#3. Use A Decent Printer

Choose a printer that will give you the best results at an affordable price. Professional printers and home use printers have flocked the market, so it’s upon you to choose the best fit.

While there are plenty on the market I suggest Canon or Epson Stylus printers. Both give enormous and exceptional results, and usually riddle the recommended lists of artwork printers.  In my experience, the printers are durable if well taken care of, so consider it an investment.

#4. Use Good Media

Select a printing substrate that you like the most and that offer appealing characteristics to your home or clients. Breathing colors have overwhelming outputs and Epson media.

#5. Use Good Printer Profiles

The main crucial aspect of printers is the ICC profiles but it’s mostly neglected by many artistic geeks. Printer profiling helps to manage the outputs of the printer with regards to the combination of different printer models with the selected models.

#6.Soft Proof

Don’t hurry thinking about printing your work without passing it through a preview. This gives you a rough idea on how your output would look like. You can use software like Photoshop or profiles to check on your work.

#7. Choose Printer Setting Carefully

After all processes of editing and previewing your work is done, it’s now the final stage of printing. You’ll be required to choose the right settings to obtain high-quality output. Select the type of resolution you would want the image to be printed on.

Once your artwork has been printed, leave it to dry up and you can use it anywhere you intended to use.
